We start the week with a powerful Sun Conjunction to Mercury and a Full Moon in Taurus which could have us feeling a lot of intense emotions about the state of our lives right now. We may find ourselves ready to start over in a lot of ways, but we could also feel like we are having a hard time letting go of what has been comfortable and known. Throughout the week we have some transits that will help us feel more empowered in moving forward, but we also may feel like we are up against others in our lives who may not always be as supportive as we would like. Remember, not everyone has your best interest at heart and sometimes keeping our plans to ourselves is beneficial for our own peace of mind, rather than letting others doubt and insecurities plague our own sense of self and self worth.
I also am happy to share that this week I am on Melissa Lafara’s podcast, Energetic Principals, discussing Depression in the birth chart. This podcast was very fun to record and I hope that it is helpful for any of you trying to make sense of your own emotional landscape in your own life. Astrology has been a huge helper in understanding my own journey with depression and anxiety, and I am sure it will be a focus in my career as my practice evolves. Moon in Taurus
We begin to feel the energy of our Full Moon in Taurus, which will not be exact until tomorrow morning. The Moon is exalted in Taurus and as I have said before, this energy is one of my favorites. Taurus’s modality is fixed, and element earth in astrology, making it a fixed earth sign. Taurus is known for being grounded, stable, hard working, and loyal. In turn, this can also cause Taurus to be possessive, stubborn, and unwilling to let go or make changes that trigger fear in the Taurus individual. When the Moon is in Taurus we often gravitate towards things that align with what we find comfort in that are familiar to us. We may move slower, and want to stay home cooking, gardening, or doing a project that we enjoy. For workaholics, this energy may allow for more focus and ability to plant oneself into one's work.
Strong Aspects During the Day PDT
Sun in Scorpio Conjunct Mercury RX in Scorpio 7:22 AM
This transit has been all over the headlines and in a lot of astrological and astronomical articles or blogs already as Mercury will be crossing over the face of the Sun from our perspective today making quite the spectacle. The last time we were able to visibly watch Mercury transit across the Sun from our visual line of sight on Earth was in 2016, but we will not be able to see this phenomenon again until 2032. For more information on how to view this transit and what it entails from a scientific perspective you can watch some great videos here : https://www.space.com/mercury-transit-2019-viewing-guide.html
As for the astrological significance Mercury Conjunct the Sun in Scorpio during a Full Moon and Mercury Rx holds a lot of powerful energy in relation to our minds and our concept of self. Whenever the Sun conjuncts a planet there are typically 3 terms used in astrology to define this, a combustion, a cazimi, or being under the sunbeams. The amount of degrees within the planet to the Sun is what defines the energy of the planet. This conjunction I believe based on the degree of the Sun and Mercury would fall into a combustion, which means that the Sun is overpowering or dominating the energy of the planet in the combustion which can lead to the energy of the planet being frustrated. It is hard to know exactly how this combustion may affect you on a personal level because there are so many different interpretations I have found online and in the books of both a Combustion and a Cazimi. Each astrological system seems to define them a little bit different, and using maybe a slightly different mathematical system. The best way to find out how this energy is affecting you is to tune into yourself through meditation and ask yourself how you are feeling mentally, emotionally and in relation to yourself. Then look at your birth chart and see where this energy is happening in your chart and if it is triggering any other aspect lines or planets.
Typically the Sun meeting up with Mercury enables us to feel empowered in our minds and we have an increased sense of willpower. Because Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio we may feel an increased libido, sense of determination and a need to assert ourselves in our lives at this time.
