The last month we have been in the grounded energy of Capricorn, which has been causing a lot of us to feel like a bubble is about to burst on the material front. We have been focusing on goal setting, planning, manifesting, cutting old ties, leaving 2017 behind us.
Hopefully by now we are all ready for that bubble to burst, as on January 19th the Sun enters Aquarius at 7:10 PM PST, which is too perfect in relation to the nation wide Women's March taking place the following day on the 20th, as Aquarius is the sign for revolution and change.
We will have both Venus and the Sun conjunct in Aquarius on the 20th which is the perfect combination of planets to help fuel the fight for equal rights for women as Venus rules Libra ( Justice card in the Tarot) and Aquarius helps push revolutionary and progressive ideals to the forefront of our minds and actions. It also is no coincidence that the symbol for women is the same as the glyph for Venus. This Aquarius season will be fueled with a lot of conversation around equality.
To give you an idea of the power of Aquarian energy, especially within the women's movement, we can look at some famous Aquarian women throughout history.
Oprah Winfrey, born on January 29th, 1954 has her Sun and Venus conjunct in Aquarius at 8 degrees in the 2nd house. We all know Oprah has been revolutionary in daytime television as well as speaking up for the rights of women everywhere.
Angela Davis, famous feminist and activist was born on January 26th, 1944 and has her Sun, Moon, south node and Juno all in Aquarius. Angela Davis fought on the front lines for equality for women, especially women of color.
Ellen Degeneres was born on January 26th, 1958 and has her Sun and Venus conjunct in Aquarius in the 2nd house, as well as Chiron and her Part of Fortune in the 3rd house in Aquarius. She has been known for fighting for Animal, LGBTQ and Feminist rights.
Yoko Ono born on February 18th, 1933 has her Sun and Venus in Aquarius in the 6th house, and Saturn in Aquarius in the 5th house. Yoko Ono was a huge icon in the revolutionary stages of the Beatles. Peace and equality has been a huge life mission for her throughout her career as an artist and activist.
These are just a few examples of some very inspirational and progressive thinking women in history who happened to have Aquarius as their rulers.
Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, which is the planet for change and often times the destruction of old systems like uhm...*cough* the patriarchy *cough*. Uranus as the "destroyer" in astrology asks us to break old structures in our lives that are no longer working for us. There is a tearing down of old ways and a demand for something new and interesting to happen. Because Saturn will still be in Capricorn, we may feel conflicted with what needs structuring during this time- as in where we could be more disciplined, and where we want to let our freak flags and rebellious nature fly. It is going to be a time of really learning to balance our wild nature without losing responsibility.
The 11th house in the Zodiac wheel is ruled by Aquarius and represents how we operate in groups and organizations. The reason why Aquarian energy is so focused on the group but also has a reputation for being aloof, cold, and lone wolf in nature is because Aquarius people are meant to bring new ideas and change to the masses. They are not meant to fall in line to "group think" or go along with the crowd, they are meant to change the way we think, and they have the power to influence us politically, ethically, morally, and intellectually.
Aquarians speak the truth, from their own perspective rather than the perspective of someone else.
We may find ourselves with Venus in Aquarius, feeling more detached, but more focused on the bigger picture goals around who we are as people, as women and men, as spiritual beings.
Morals and ethics may be something we all think about a little more and we may feel inspired to be more active within our communities.
On the flip side, the negative attributes of Aquarian energy can manifest when we get too cold to the outside world, where we feel we want to fight every structure in place because we feel victimized by it. Structure is just as important as chaos, and we must have both in this world in order to move forward.
The guidance during this transit is to focus on restructuring the parts of your life that need it, while embracing the structure that is in place that actually does work for you.
In other words, don't throw the baby out with the bath water while you fight for equal rights and justice. Try to be grateful for the journey and the progress we are making. Hold your family and friends close, and try to enjoy the chaos of the world without growing bitter to it.
