Gemini Season ♊ Your Weekly Forecast 5/18-5/24

It’s Gemini Season! I can't believe we are already more than half way through the month of May. Covid-19 feels like it truly robbed my concept of time. Any plans I had for this year have obviously took way longer to accomplish. I feel grateful that I managed to stay pretty busy during these times working on The Mystic Parlor, but I still find myself getting caught up in day dreams about what this year could have been like if none of these things happened. I know that is probably not a healthy thing to do, as thinking too much about a past that was never going to happen does nothing for me in the present, but I do feel like when I get more present I find gratitude in so many places for this weird detour we all had. I have gotten to spend more time with my husband in the last 3 months than probably we have ever had in the 10 1/2 years we have been together which has been amazing! Evelyn and I also got to set up our online store and spend more time working on the shop, which enabled us to work on a lot of things in a slower and more methodical way than we would have been able to do if we had fully opened back in March. I have had to really buck up and deal with parts of myself that I haven't really had to face in life yet, and it has made me truly stronger. I also feel like I have more optimism and faith in what we as a people can accomplish if we support each other through difficult times. Ok, enough reflecting ( which is a trait of Gemini), lets talk about Gemini season!

[Castor and Pollux by Meissen Porcelain Factory after Christian Gottfried Jüchtzer, 1788-1789]
Ruled by the planet Mercury, Gemini is the mutable air sign of the zodiac, ruling the 3rd house. The 3rd house represents how we communicate, our ability to think and analyze with our minds, writing, technology, science, siblings, and neighbors. Gemini's affirmation is "I think." With the planet Mercury, we discover our learning style, how we communicate, and the way we internalize and reflect our perceptions to ourselves as well as others. There is a dual nature in the sign of Gemini that is represented in the Greek myths of Castor and Pollux, and their feminine twin sisters Helen and Clytemnestra. Pollux and Helen were the children of Zeus, and Castor and Clytemnestra were said to be the children of Tyndareus the king of Sparta, while both sets were mothered from Leda. (Some variations of the myth differ.)
Like its opposite, Sagittarius, Gemini energy is a curious sign. Gemini wants to know the truth, the facts, the way things work, and enjoys sharing that information. Gemini energy always reminds me of the butterfly from the Last Unicorn. Buzzing around communicating in riddles, impatient, funny, and light hearted. Gemini lends itself to insight and how we sense things we are perceiving, which is then later how we become knowledgeable about what we are learning.
Last week I had the honor of discussing Gemini season on San Diego based astrologer Melissa Lafara’s podcast “Energetic Principals.” We shared personal anecdotes and discussed the transits for the month. You can listen here: Gemini Season on Energetic Principals
Because Gemini is largely associated with the mind, those who have large Gemini placements in their chart are often prone to anxiety, overthinking, feeling mentally ungrounded, and always needing some sort of mental stimulation. It is positive for Gemini dominant people to exercise the body and spend time in nature as it helps to ground the nervous system and expel some of the built up mental energy that Gemini's are so prone to carrying. Pranayama Yoga, a breath focused yoga, is also a positive way to ground and connect to Gemini and Mercurial energy in a healthy way.
Mindfulness is a great word to meditate on as we enter this Gemini energy! Wishing you all New Moon Blessings this week!

Moon sextile Mercury in Gemini 10:17 am
Starting our week out with the Moon in Aries, we could feel like we have a lot of drive and determination to accomplish whatever we set out to do today. With the Moon making a harmonious sextile to Mercury in the morning, we are able to communicate effectively in a direct and honest way.
We benefit from staying active, as this energy can build up inside in unhealthy ways if not expelled. Exercise and healthy ways to get your body moving is advised.
