Happy Yule! Merry Solstice! Happy Birthday Capricorn babes!
Well folx, we are officially in Capricorn season! This time of year was and has been very sacred in many traditions. It is a time where the veil is considered thin and our connection to ancestors is incredibly powerful.
Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign of the Zodiac, ruling the 10th house and ruled by the planet Saturn. In Capricorn we learn the value in structure, discipline, hard work, authority, rules and traditions. Capricorn dominant people tend to be very determined to get ahead in whatever way they deem as valuable. They often are good at honoring the "old" ways, and upholding rules, structure, and boundaries.
The astrology this week is no small occurrence as we have our grand conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in the fixed air sign of Aquarius on the same day as the solstice. On top of that we also have a first quarter Moon in Aries. There is a magnificent rebirth happening in the cosmic heavens. This is a time where we will see a complete reformation on political and social structures. While it may take years to see the actual effect of all of the changes taking place, this is a pivotal time for humanity. Jupiter in the sign of Aquarius is considered to be a humanitarian and visionary placement. Saturn in Aquarius wants new systems that look towards the future to be established and put into place. We are looking towards a year ahead filled with social uprise and political change as well as technological and environmental advancements.
The mythology of Jupiter and Saturn matches up well with what we can expect over the next year. Saturn, or Kronos as he is also known, was known for being the consort of Gaia, aka Earth.
The children that Saturn and Earth created were horrific and ugly creatures to Saturn, and so he ate all of them upon birth. When Jupiter was of age, he took it upon himself to overthrow and kill his father, to free all of his brothers and sisters from the hellaish depths of his belly. We see this in the archetypal pattern of Saturn and Jupiter in the birth chart. Saturn often represents the father, and patriarchal structures or concepts that can at times feel limiting. Jupiter as ruler of Sagittarius represents the search for expansion and freedom. With Saturn and Jupiter making a grand conjunction in the community oriented sign of Aquarius, we experience the fall of the old ways, and the birth of a new and advanced future. Aquarius also being co-ruled by Uranus, we experience a new vision of the future that requires revolution and community leadership.
On an individual level, you can find Aquarius in your birth chart, and know that this area in your life will be a central theme for you in the coming year.
